GNAD Built Capacity of Leaders to conduct Advocacy

The Ghana National Association of the Deaf has carried out a 4 day advocacy training for 20 deaf leaders. The training, which took place at Coconut Groove Sakumon Hotel, forms part of GNAD and Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSACFund project.

The Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSACFund project is a 1year project whose major aim is to advocacy for the implementation of the Persons with Disability Act, Act 715 and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities towards the recognition of Ghanaian Sign Language.

Among the major activities in the project include research on challenges to implementing the PWDs Act and its impact on the business activities of the deaf community, capacity training for members on advocacy, sensitization of public and media engagement.

Presented at the advocacy training include the National President of GNAD, Mr. Emmanuel Sackey, the Director and 20 leaders selected from across the country.
