GNAD Trains 30 Peer Educators on SRH

The GNAD has successfully conducted 3 days training for 30 peer educators on Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) including information on safe clinical abortion. The Training aimed to empower the participants with quality accessible information on SRH to so that they will support their peers overcome SRH challenges. The participants, who are all Deaf persons, were selected from SAAF project Districts namely, Tano South, Sunyani Municipal, Tamale Metropolitan, Savelugu Municipal, Accra Metropolitan and Ashaiman Municipal.

At the commencement of the training, Dr. Mprah Wisdom, a lecturer at the School of Medical Science, challenged the participants to to be champions of SRH information for the Deaf community by providing deaf youth with accurate information especially on SRH including information on the danger associated with unsafe abortion. He remained them that the training become necessary because there was considerable gap in knowledge and awareness among deaf youth on SRH which calls for programmatic efforts to address the gap.

He thanked SAAF for providing financial support.
