GNAD appoints Acting Director

Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD) has appointed Juventus Duorinaah, as the Acting Director of the Association following retirement of the Executive Director James Sambian on 30th September, 2017. The appointment by the Board of the Association took place on Monday 9th October.

Juventus Duorinaah is a member of the Upper West Regional Branch of GNAD and a native of Charia, in the Wa Municipal Assembly.

A product of  Wa School for the Deaf (WADEAF) and Secondary Technical School for the Deaf, Mampong Akwapim, Mr. Duorinaah holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Degree from the University of Ghana and a Master of Laws (LLM) from the School of Law and Politics, Cardiff University, UK.

Until his appointment as Acting Director, he was the Program Manager for GNAD from 2014 to date and led in GNAD projects. Prior to joining GNAD, Duorinaah worked with the Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC), Northern Ghana Programmes specifically   Tackling Education Needs Inclusively (TENI) and SIMAVI Sexual Reproductive Health Rights Projects.

Mr. Duorinaah brought wealth of experiences to GNAD through his work, volunteer and associated experiences with Civil Society Organizations such as the Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC), Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Northern Network for Education Development (NNED), Volunteer Services Overseas (VSO) and the TENI Partners such as Link Community Development and ProNet North and Leonard Cheshire Disability (Wales, UK) and the World Federation of the Deaf’s Western and Central Africa Secretariat Transnational Capacity Building Project for Francophone Countries.

As an active youth, his main interests are reading, writing, researching and volunteering.
