GNAD Youth leadership meet to discuss matters of interest

Leadership of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD) Youth Wing has met on 17th June, 2017 to discuss issues affecting the youth of the Association. The meeting took place at the premises of GNAD National Secretariat, Accra Rehabilitation Centre, Adabraka. The NEC Meeting per the Youth Wing’s Constitution is an Annual Assembly that is held to discuss matters of interest for the betterment of the youth.

The NEC meeting was attended by 22 participants, comprising of 10 Regional Elected/ Interim Management Committee (IMC) leaders across the country, Presidents of the School Clubs (Senior High Technical School for The Deaf and Bechem School for the Deaf), the five current National Executives, some former National Executives and members of the Working Group.

The NEC discussed the following: the outcome of the pilot project, review and amend the existing Youth Wing’s Constitution, the outcome of the DUF’s International Partnership Seminar (Haslev, Denmark) attended by the president and his vice. Other presentations made at the meeting focused on championing disability rights (Persons With Disabilities Act 715 and the United nation’s Convention on Rights of Persons With Disability (UNCRPD), information on recent workshops attended by some of the national executives, as well as discussion on citation for national officers at the end of their.

Reports presented by the regional and IMC leaders did indicate there are a barrage of useful strategies that can be in cooperated going forward. The meeting was participatory and there was overwhelming zeal by all to the commitment of ensuring goals and aspirations of Youth Wing. GNAD Youth, Together We Can!
